Articulu: Listen to Articles On the Go with this New App
My Evernote “To Read” notebook is constantly overflowing with articles I’ve saved but haven’t had time to read. Articulu may help solve this issue.
How does it work?
The user copies and pastes the article URL into their queue and the app converts them to an audio file to listen to within the app. This process takes about a minute. You can also browse popular articles right within the app.
The voice the app uses for reading is a little robotic but not nearly as stilted as I expected. It reads a little fast for me and there doesn’t seem to be a speed adjustment setting at this time. Hopefully, a speed setting, additional languages, and different voice options will be added later.
Users used to listening to audiobooks read by professional narrators might find the inflection-free artificial intelligence narration a little jarring but I still think this app shows a lot of promise.
For early users, it’s free for 30 days and then $4.99 USD per month.
