My name is Jill and I spend too much time in front of my computer.
Writing books, composing blog posts and designing graphics make up a major chunk of my life. I’m told I started writing before I knew how to write. My first novel, Molly Miranda: Thief for Hire, was published in 2015 and was shortlisted for the Prince Edward Island Book Award in 2016. My second and third novels, Molly Miranda: Thick as Thieves and Molly Miranda: Honor Among Thieves, were published in 2016 and 2017. Learn more about my fiction projects.
My fourth book and first non-fiction project, The Lazy Historian’s Guide to the Wives of Henry VIII, will be published in the spring 2018. Learn more.
I grew up in rural Nova Scotia and moved to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island in 2008 to study Journalism and then, after that, Interactive Multimedia. I’d been making websites since our family first got dial up internet in the late 1990s and decided to make a go of it professionally. In September 2011, I got a gig at a Charlottetown design firm and I’ve been there ever since.
Happy Wife, Happy Life
While in college, I was lucky enough to meet the smartest, sweetest and funniest guy in the world and after a couple years of an online friendship, we decided to give a relationship a shot. Four and a half years later, on September 5, 2015, Colby and I walked down the aisle. See some wedding photos. In the spring of 2016, we moved into our first home
There’s a reason why “Living Creatively” is the sub-title to this blog. Creativity is my lifeblood. It’s how I make my living and it’s how I spend my free time. When I’m not writing or designing, I can usually be found painting, embroidering, scrapbooking, paper crafting, sewing or woodworking. And when I’m not doing any of those things, I’m usually curled up with a good book.
I also love history, podcasts, costume dramas, comedy, tattoos and feminism.
