Hey, thanks for taking an interest in me. Aren’t you sweet!
My name is Jill. I grew up in a very small community in rural Nova Scotia. I moved to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island in 2008 to study Journalism at Holland College. I quickly fell in love with the town and decided I’d try to get a job here after I graduated. I’ve always been a writer but I knew I didn’t want to be a reporter so I went back to college for a third year and took Interactive Multimedia in order to develop another skill of mine: web design. After freelancing as a web designer for a few months out of my apartment, I got a job as a graphic designer at a local design firm. I’ve been at Revolution Media ever since.
During my final year of college, I started a long-distance relationship with a friend of a friend. Our own friendship had developed almost entirely online (thanks Google Chat!) because he was 3.5 hours away at university. When he finished school and moved back to Charlottetown (also his home town), we moved in together and, later, got engaged. Colby and I got married on September 5, 2015. If you have read my blog, you can probably see I got really into the DIY wedding decor. See some wedding photos.
Getting married wasn’t the only big thing that happened in my life in 2015. I also had my first book published. Molly Miranda: Thief for Hire is an action/comedy starring a professional burglar. As I write this, it’s got 4.8/5 stars on Amazon. Molly was even shortlisted for the 2016 PEI Book Award for fiction. The sequel, Molly Miranda: Thick as Thieves, is due out this summer. Learn more about my writing.
Colby and I are currently house hunting and I’ll be documenting a lot of that on this blog.
As you can probably tell, I love taking on creative projects. I write fiction and non-fiction and have several books planned for future release. I paint, I do paper crafts and I’ve dabbled with sewing. It’s a wonder I don’t own a pottery wheel. I’m a hobby addict and this blog tends to be where my excess hobby excitement ends up.
I hope you enjoy this little dip into my life. 🙂 Here are a few random things I love:
- corgis (first house, then I’ll get a corgi)
- dying my hair bright colors
- gender equality
- the ocean
- my Filofax
- art/craft/stationery supplies
- Apple products
