I made some pants! I used the Wear Anywhere Yoga Pants pattern from Diana Rupp‘s book Sew Everything Workshop. It was so easy to follow and I was very impressed with how they turned out. Rupp’s book is the perfect fit for a newbie like me. Things are explained very well. I recently finished her Craftsy class as well.

I got Colby to take a few shots of me wearing my bright teal creation. I deviated from the instructions and pattern very rarely- I added an inch to each side of the pattern- these hips don’t lie- and I didn’t follow the instructions exactly when I did the draw string because I was afraid they’d go too long on me. I’m glad I did because they go juuuust low enough. The pants are actually a bit big on me in the hips, but they’re sooo comfortable.

If I did this project again, I would add an extra inch or so at the top and I wouldn’t use polyester ribbon for the draw string. It doesn’t stay tied very well so it has to be double-knotted to stay tied. And then the knot is hard to undo.

Here are some shots!

And this is what I’ll likely end up doing in my yoga pants, instead of doing yoga:
